You already know about all the investment bank failures, and the $700 billion bailout that is going to be charged to the taxpayers.
You might know that this mess has caused the price of gas to jump from $95 per barrel to almost $121 per barrel in just a few days. More fear and speculation.
The dow moves at about 300-500 points per day. One day up, one day down, one day up, etc.
There's talk of a new Cold War as Russia ruffles the feathers of the world, Iran develops a nuke program, and North Korea reneges on its promise to dismantle its nuke program.
We're in some scary times now. Are we screwed?

Those gas prices are MADNESS Sean, you know, in my country we pay less than a dollar for a full tank. And still more than 60% of the population lives in poverty. Thanks to the stupid idiots who voted for president Hugo Chavez. Right now, with the oil prices so high we should be swimming in gold, but instead people are getting killed for money and food, and in the meantime Chavez keeps buying pointless stuff like planes and submarines and his peeps have condos in Miami and secret bank accounts in Switzerland. The (also) sad part is that Chavez is supporting Russian shenanigans and we could get seriously screwed thanks to a guy we don't want. Maybe we should buy a damn island and start a new country, without all this bullshit.
When's your next election?

See, I don't think I've ever seen such pessimism here before. I mean, when I was in college like Tinnerz is now, the elder Bush was prez, and we were in the Gulf War. It was a shitty time, we were in a recession, and even then things were almost, but not quite, the cluster fuck that they are now.
If you can vote in the US, pleeeeeeeeeeaaaaaaaaaassssse do this year. Please? And not for the moose killer? Thanks!
